Rivalry Recap: WE WON!

Porterville Highschool raining champions of the rock

Granite Bowl Champions

The Granite Bowl creates the opportunity for some pretty cool stuff on campus and in our community: press up days, rallies, school activities, and the classic rivalry of the Orange and Green vs Blue and Gold.  The Porterville High football team has had bragging rights for the past 7 years now, as “The Rock” has resided on our campus. Porterville fans appeared to get louder as they cheered and yelled nonstop all the way through the Panthers’ first touchdown of the night last Friday at the Granite Bowl game.

This year’s game took place Friday night at Jamison Stadium on October 27. In the stands were also numerous older fans, including PHS’s Class of 1973 who gathered for their 50th year reunion. Our Spirit Section, which was recently voted as the BEST in the valley, was out in full force, screaming with glee each time our team scored and Coach Rangel prompted the crowd to their feet, and they were also there to keep the game lively. Our wonderful cheerleaders led the spirit throughout the night as we danced our way to victory. The final score was 21 to ZERO!!!!!!! Once again, we’ve secured “The Rock” and our place as the BEST high school in town (or, at least, the best football team in town).
