As we begin Easter break, we’re also approaching the end of the 2026 school year. With so little time left, there’s still so much to do!
Many events are coming up soon, both in and outside of school. What memories can we create to make this school year even better, particularly with those who bring out the best in us?
Great question! With some brainstorming and a bit of TikTok scrolling, I’ve rounded up some awesome ideas.
Being aware of our small town, we’re somewhat limited to activities in the surrounding areas rather than just Porterville, such as Tulare and Visalia. In reality, though, memories can be made anywhere. For those who can responsibly drive, even more opportunities are in store.
Some basic activities include walking, hiking, swimming, taking a cruise around town, and maybe even casual thrifting. A popular Easter activity many enjoy is picnics. These don’t have to be your average picnic, add your own twist and have some fun. It’s a great mental break. Another idea is going to see a movie in theaters, which is perfect for any season. A few other options include volunteering, trying new restaurants or places you haven’t been to, or even hosting your own mini event, like a game night.
Aside from the basics, here are a few more ideas:
- Do a good deed (surprise someone!)
- Visit a garden
- Go camping or hiking
- Take a beach trip
- Visit an amusement park
- Build a fort
- Have a tea party
- Go for a bike ride
- Make charms
- Create vision boards
- Make cardboard vases
- Pull an all-nighter
- Try a slip ‘n slide
- Try new recipes
- Go thrifting with friends
- Create a new playlist
- Journal
- Read outdoors
- Catch a sunset
- Plant or paint flower pots
- Plan a summer trip
- Do a scavenger hunt
Truly, the fun and activities are endless.
Now, for those who spend their break in isolation: allow yourself to enjoy the spring air and fresh sunlight before the heat intensifies. Even within your own space, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy. A great option is learning a new craft, such as beading, knitting, crocheting, painting, or baking. With so much time on your hands, picking up a new skill can be both fun and beneficial. Many of the activities listed above can also be done independently.
Fun awaits, and Easter break is the perfect time to let our free spirits blossom. Express yourself, even when alone, but it’s even better to be around those who bring out your true self. Surround yourself with people who will ensure a fun and enjoyable experience. And for those who prefer solitude, keep your peace, but don’t forget to have fun.
Furthermore, don’t let this break wilt away. This is our last hoorah before the school year is over. Enjoy this break while it lasts! And remember to always stay safe.
