The PHS Varsity Cheer team had a very long but amazing football season. As they transition to basketball season, they reflect on some of their key takeaways from working through challenges as a team.
Sadie Camacho, a junior, feels excited about a new season because “[Basketball] is more intimate with the crowd, but I love the transition between football and basketball because they are two very different sports but the the love is still there and it still stays the same.”
The PHS cheer team accomplished a huge amount of activities and events during the football season, some of them being the PHS 5am Rally, the Back to School Rally, and the Rivalry Rally with there upcoming event being a stunt and cheer clinic. “I feel like it was really fun I enjoyed seeing them go back and forth on the field and cheering for them but my favorite accomplishment was being more involved in cheer this year,” says Emma, a sophomore on the varsity cheer team.
Team bonding is very important when it comes to cheer weather it be with the whole team or some people on the team or team dinners practicing new routines together or just laughing on the sidelines during the games it helps everyone build trust, work harder, and feel more comfortable. Emma shares, “My favorite team bonding memory was when we did our banquet in the cafeteria and everybody was just having a good time.”
