Panthers, our Homecoming Candidates represent various teams and organizations on campus. All of them are awesome…but only two of them will be crowned King and Queen! Voting for Homecoming 2023 will take place during  4th period today, after the rally. Your teacher will have a Google Form that will be shared with you.

Be sure to support the candidates at the rally during 3rd period and watch them get crowned at the game this evening. The Homecoming BLACKLIGHT Dance will follow the game TONIGHT, Friday Oct.13th from 9:00-11:30 pm in the Sharman Gym. Your friends from other PUSD schools can get in–just remind them to bring their school IDs!

Would it mean to you to be homecoming queen?

“It would mean a lot to me because it would make me and my mom proud. My mom is my inspiration and influence, and I know she’ll be proud of me for doing this and for my gratitude.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“What makes me a good candidate is that many people know me, and they know I’m a calm and outgoing person.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates

“Everyone is great in their own way; winning is not my priority. Knowing I tried my   best is enough for me.”                                                         

 

Mason Shiers

Boys Golf

What would it mean to you to be homecoming King?

“It would mean a lot to me because it’ll make me feel proud of myself because I got out of my comfort zone.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“My loyalty and listening skills make me a good candidate; I listen to everyone and every party to know what they want.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“My involvement in basketball and golf sets me apart from the others. I also tend to be more isolated and to myself compared to the others.”

                                                   

 

Kalea Mariboho

What would it mean to you to be homecoming Queen?

“It’ll mean a lot because it shows I’m being recognized for my good characteristics.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“My hardworking ability and heart to help others make me a good candidate.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“My selfishness and ability to juggle activities sets me apart from the others.”

Football

What would it mean to you to be homecoming King?

“It’ll mean a lot to me because it’s very exciting.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“My involvement in school, for example, sports, makes me a good candidate.”

 

 

 

Neveah Sanchez

What would it mean to you to be homecoming Queen?

“Since freshman year I wanted to be a candidate, it’s something I’ve always wanted.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“I am very involved in many things around the school campus and I am a very likable person.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“I would say the dedication I have given this is what sets me apart from the others.”

What would it mean to you to be homecoming King?

“It would be an honor to be elected. It’s important to represent the school.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“I’m involved and active in many things around the school. I can be social and talk to people.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“My willingness to explore the unknown and accept the outcomes no matter what happens.”

What would it mean to you to be homecoming Queen?

“It’ll show the spirit and determination I have for the school.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“I would say what makes me a good candidate is my school spirit and enthusiasm.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“My ability to make friends and interact with others easily.”

What would it mean to you to be homecoming King?

“It would mean a lot to me because it would be a huge accomplishment; I can one day tell my kids.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“I would say what makes me a good candidate is that I get along with others. I am very involved in things around the school.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“What sets me apart from other candidates is how easily I get along with other people and become friends with them.”

What would it mean to you to be homecoming Queen?

“It would be awesome because I would represent the communities I am a part of, such as being Christian, cross-country, and PAB.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“My kindness and hardworking skills make me a good candidate.”

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“My strive to represent Christ and his goodness.”

 

 

Victor Flores

MEChA

What would it mean to you to be homecoming King?

“It’ll mean everything to me because ever since sophomore year, when I discovered that HOCO candidates were a thing, I knew I wanted to be King.”

What makes you a good candidate?

“I am very involved in clubs and in academics. I am also the type of person who loves to talk and interact with people and make new friends.” 

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

“What sets me apart from other candidates is my commitment I give the school and my ability to help those who need it.”

Vanessa is a senior and is involved in the Academy of Health Sciences. She’s a first-year staff member of The Orange & Green. She enjoys reading in her free time or listening to music. Vanessa is also involved in many clubs on campus; she enjoys trying new things to challenge herself. Vanessa is also a participant in Link Crew here at Porterville High.
