    Happy Groundhog Day!

    Happy Groundhog Day!

Happy Groundhog Day! Did you know that today, February 2nd, is Groundhog Day? What is this day about, you may be pondering? Groundhog Day is, as the tale goes when a groundhog is said to emerge out of its burrow, and if it sees its shadow, it will go back into its burrow. Winter will continue for six additional weeks; on the contrary, if it doesn’t see its shadow, it will leave its burrow, and spring will come early. This tradition is mainly celebrated in the United States and Canada, but it got worldwide attention after a film named Groundhog Day in 1993 was released. This celebration can be dated back to early celebrations in southern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries and was influenced by early European weather lore, but it would be a badger or bear instead of a groundhog.
