On Wednesday, November 1st, PHS celebrated Día De Los Muertos by hosting a celebration where clubs got together during lunch to decorate the campus by having papel picado around the school quad and selling food. The MEChA club sold well-known Hispanic snacks such as aguas frescas, duros preparados, chicharones de estrellas, and posole. Dance was also a part of this celebration, and they danced in their colorful traditional vestiary; meanwhile, the art classes had decorative and colorful ofrenadas with the students’ loved ones. They also had colorful drawings of calaveras (skulls) that represented the bright afterlife. This celebration was meant to bring remembrance of our passed loved ones and bring and share these traditions with students. Students and staff had the opportunity to view the artwork, ofrendas, and dance performances.
Thank you to the VAPA Club (Visual And Performing Arts) for organizing this event and making it incredible. It was a fantastic celebration, and we look forward to continuing this tradition next year.
