Meet+the+Varsity+Girls+Tennis+Team

Girls’ tennis is in season, and our Lady Panthers are undefeated in league so far. Tennis is a sport that can be played individually against a single opponent or between doubles teams. These are referred to as “singles” and “doubles.” We got to interview our lady panthers and even ask them about their preferred match choice. Let’s meet the team!

Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer singles since I have no one to depend on while I play. This way, I have more power with the ball since it’s just my opponent and me.
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is giving myself mental notes to take deep breaths and play the match to my fullest capability.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I enjoy all the unforgettable memories I’ve made with my teammates. Tennis is a sport that is filled with fun and excitement, so it keeps me busy.
Jacquelin Ayala- senior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer doubles because I don’t have to worry about the whole court or running back and forth.
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is praying in my mind- I just like to have a good mindset before playing.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I enjoy making friends and being competitive because I love winning.
Camila Navarro- senior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer singles because it makes me work harder since playing doubles can sometimes be distracting.
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is jamming out to hype songs, especially Knife Talk by Drake.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I enjoy constantly working hard and putting in the work to stay active rather than staying home and doing nothing.
Jazalyn Hernandez- senior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I like singles because you don’t have to depend on anyone else.
What is your pregame routine?
I usually just warm up with my partner
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I like seeing the improvement I make everyday.
Delaney Nix- senior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer doubles because it’s extra support especially when we’re losing.
What is your pregame routine?
I hope for the best, try not to get in my head about it and stretch with the girls.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I really enjoy being with my girls and the support they give me.
Aracely Perez- senior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I think singles is better for me because it gives me an advantage to demonstrate my skill individually.
What is your pregame routine?
Before the game, I hold a rally with Ruhani.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I like meeting new people and becoming friends with them. It also has boosted my confidence.

Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer singles. They put you in charge of the game.
What is your pregame routine?
I usually stretch and play a rally with the team.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I enjoy playing individual games, meeting people, and the mental and physical strength it gives me.
Ruhani Deswall – junior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer doubles so that I can play with a partner, and I like to be upfront to volley.
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is warming up by practicing my serves.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I enjoy practicing with the rest of the girls and playing doubles with my partner.
Zahra Rayani- junior
Do you prefer singles or doubles?
I prefer doubles because I get in my head too much when I play singles, and it’s easier to have someone you can depend on.
What is your pregame routine?
I just go out there and warm up, and I drink a lot of water because I get dehydrated really easily.
What do you enjoy the most about playing tennis?
I like that it keeps me in shape and that we play outside, so we get to see everything that’s going on around us.
