Known for its rotating weekly menu and visually stunning cookie creations, Crumbl Cookies has become a sweet sensation among students and dessert enthusiasts alike. Each week, the bakery unveils a new set of limited-edition flavors, drawing long lines and eager taste testers ready to indulge in the latest cookie trends. This Halloween week, Crumbl’s themed selection offered both festive flair and fall-inspired flavors. Our student tasting panel—Nevaeh, Josue, Cienna, and Jazmine—evaluated each cookie’s appearance, aroma, taste, texture, and overall appeal. At $4.99 per cookie (and you have to go all the way to Tulare or Visalia for the nearest Crumbl), it’s important to be discerning when choosing which treat to splurge on. While tastes may vary, we did the difficult work of testing special offerings. Here’s how this week’s lineup fared.
Cookie Dough Cookie
A brown sugar cookie topped with creamy cookie dough buttercream and finished with chunks of cookie dough.
The Cookie Dough Cookie made a bold first impression. “Very thick, decorative, chunky,” described Nevaeh, while Cienna noted, “This has weight to it; it feels like it has five pounds.” The smell reminded tasters of a classic Biscoff cookie, setting expectations for a rich, buttery bite.
Taste-wise, the sweetness dominated. “It’s very sweet,” said Nevaeh, with Josue exclaiming, “Oh my gosh!” after his first bite. Jazmine added, “It’s the frosting that makes it too sweet.” Despite its indulgent flavor, the cookie’s density and frosting overwhelmed some palates—fittingly, it also happens to contain the highest calorie count of the week.
Rating: 5/10, While the flavor was celebrated as being authentic to cookie dough, it was far too sweet.
Dirt Cake Cookie
A dark chocolate cookie coated in cookies & cream crumbs, swirled with fudge frosting, sprinkled with chocolate streusel, and finished with a gummy worm.
Visually, opinions were mixed. Josue thought, “It looks really dark,” while Nevaeh observed, “It’s a cute cookie.” Josue added humorously, “It looks like actual dirt from the floor—which makes it more appetizing.”
The scent brought nostalgic comfort. “Smells like a Hershey’s bar,” said Josue; “Smells like dark chocolate,” added Nevaeh.
When it came to taste, this cookie divided the group. “Very chocolate-y. Over chocolate,” Nevaeh commented, while Jazmine thought it “tastes like a brownie.” Josue noticed layered flavors: “The chocolate streusel and crumbs taste like an Oreo, but the cookie itself tastes like a brownie.”
Rating: 5/10, A dense, chocolate-forward cookie that some found a bit too intense.
French Toast Cookie
A fluffy, buttery cookie topped with cinnamon egg wash, a dollop of buttercream, syrup drizzle, and powdered sugar.
Though Nevaeh described its appearance as “crumby,” Josue appreciated that it was “well put together with syrup and buttercream, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.” The aroma evoked breakfast nostalgia: “Smells like syrup,” Nevaeh said.
Taste reviews were nuanced. “Like coffee,” Nevaeh commented, while Cienna found it “airy and fluffy.” Several agreed the buttercream topping made the difference. “Tastes better with the bite of buttercream topping,” Josue explained, and Cienna admitted, “Without the topping, it would be dry and tasteless.” Jazmine described the buttercream as simply tasting “like frosting.”
Despite its creative concept, the French Toast Cookie lacked flavor depth without its toppings. As Josue concluded, “The toppings compliment it well and give it a good kick.”
Rating: 5/10, Pleasant presentation, but inconsistent flavor delivery.
Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookie
A chilled buttery graham cookie layered with pumpkin cheesecake frosting and graham cracker streusel.
Visually stunning and seasonally on point, this cookie was a crowd favorite. “It’s cute and decorative. It looks the most appetizing,” said Nevaeh. “It looks the best,” agreed Cienna. Jazmine captured the seasonal mood perfectly: “Smells festive. Smells like Thanksgiving.”
Taste impressions were glowing. “Tastes like cheesecake,” said Cienna. Nevaeh described it as “smushy, but the frosting is giving main character energy and Thanksgiving and fall.” Jazmine noted the contrast: “The bottom tastes like a cookie, and the top tastes like cheesecake.”
Rating: 8/10, A top-tier treat that perfectly captures the cozy flavors of fall.
Halloween Confetti Milkshake Cookie
A confetti sugar cookie rolled in orange, white, and black sprinkles, topped with cake-flavored buttercream and whipped cream.
This cookie embodied Halloween spirit. “Thick,” noted Nevaeh, while Cienna praised its “sprinkles to the bottom” for adding “creativity, texture, and a festive feeling.” Jazmine summed up the vibe: “Halloween-ie—though it should have had green sprinkles too!”
The cookie smelled like a celebration. “Smells like funfetti,” said Jazmine; “Smells like a standard sugar cookie,” added Cienna.
When it came to flavor, tasters paused thoughtfully before agreeing it delivered on its name. “It does taste like a vanilla milkshake!” exclaimed Nevaeh. “You can taste the buttercream,” Josue confirmed. However, Josue also noted it “would taste better chilled.”
Rating: 6/10, Fun and festive, though slightly heavy on the frosting.

Final Verdict
Crumbl’s Halloween Edition cookies offered a colorful variety of flavors and textures, from rich chocolate overloads to smooth pumpkin cheesecake perfection. If you like pumpkin-flavored items, we highly recommend you splurge on the Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookie, as it clearly stole the show with its seasonal flavor and balanced texture. If you don’t like pumpkin, you may enjoy the Halloween Confetti Milkshake Cookie.
Overall, this week’s lineup was a treat for the senses. Our only complaint was that none of the cookies had orange and green decorations (one cookie had orange sprinkles and another had orange frosting), because when Halloween and Rivalry Week line up, the only acceptable color to pair with orange is GREEN!
