Porterville High hosts blood drive
This Friday, March 3rd, ASB and the Health Academy will host a blood drive in the Sharman Gym from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You must be at least 16 years old to donate blood. You must pick up a parental consent form from rooms S-3 or H-107. One pint of blood will be drawn with each donation. It might seem like a lot, but your body will replenish that blood in about 24 hours. Giving your blood might sound nerve-racking, but you will only feel a slight pinch in your arm. At the end of the day, it is worth it as you are helping a patient. Donating blood is also very safe as you are only exposed to your own blood since disposable needles are used for each donation. You can also donate blood every eight weeks. If you are curious about what blood type you have, you should grab a form, and depending on what blood type you have will determine who the blood will be going to. Four major blood groups are A, B, AB, and O type. If you are interested in knowing your blood type or helping someone in need, show up to the Sharman Gym with your form and support the Central California Blood Center.
