Staying active for your health

Mental health is one of the most critical things in the world today. It should be valued and prioritized in a person’s life. Being mentally unhealthy is one of the main reasons why depression is caused. According to the website Suicide Statistics and Facts it can be stated that nearly 50,000 Americans committed suicide in 2022 alone. The number one cause of suicide is from having mental health issues. 

 

There are many ways to improve your mental health. One is arguably the most effective, being active. Being active has definitely been one of the more effective ways of improving someone’s mental health because it has been proven to relieve stress, anxiety, depression, and anger. Another reason why it is essential is that it is a natural mood lifter. The sense of accomplishment after is a rewarding feeling. There are many ways for one to be active. This includes participating in sports, clubs, hikes, and walks. However, being active doesn’t always mean exercise. There are more ways to be active. For example, gardening is a healthy, rewarding way of being active. 

 

Around here, many students have recently found hiking a healthy alternative and fun way to stay active. The most popular hikes here in Porterville are “Snob Hill, Granite Hills, and Satellites.” All of which give amazing views of the city of Porterville.
