What A First Date Should Be…
An Editorial
Dating is usually new territory for high school students, and there are so many questions that go along with this tradition/ritual that the majority of human beings experience at some point in their lives. What should we do? What should we talk about? Should we kiss? How long should a first date last? Who pays? The list can go on forever!
Lucky for those going through first dates in today’s world we have the internet and can get ideas, tips, and advice (from reputable sources of course) without having to admit cluelessness to friends and family. Unlucky for those going through first dates in today’s world we have the internet and can get ideas, tips, and advice about first dates; which can lead to unrealistic expectations about what a first date should be, especially because you’re usually nervous.
In my opinion, a first date should consist of getting to know each other and a meal, something simple like a dinner date, or even just ice cream. The guy should pick up the girl like in the movies and be a gentleman, open the car door for the girl, etc. (in a traditional boy/girl relationship, which is my experience). It is always good to ask lots of questions to get to know the person better, especially since first dates determine whether or not you want to go on a second date. A first date is something you’ll always remember good or bad, so if it’s worth going on it should be memorable.
