CAST, What Is It?
Starting this week, all seniors began taking the California Science Test (CAST). This test is similar to the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Usually, students take the CAST at three different academic levels: during fifth, eighth, and twelfth grade. The CAASPP is well-known and is the test the juniors prepare for. The CAASPP tests students in English and Mathematics. Unlike the CAASPP, the CAST test students in science, more specifically, the information learned throughout Biology, Integrated Physical Science, and Earth and Space class. Seniors have been taking this test during their Social Science period. Next week, juniors will be taking the English version of the CAASPP during their English classes. The following week will be the Math version of the CAASPP during their Math classes.
