National Library Week & School Library Month

The month of April is School Library Month and National Library Week is April 3rd- April 9th.  National Library Week is a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries, library workers’ contributions and promote library use and support.  Established in 1958, National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and observed in libraries across the country each April. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate. School Library Month is the American Association of School Librarians’ celebration of school librarians and school libraries. Every April school librarians are encouraged to host activities to help their school and local community celebrate the essential role that strong school libraries play in transforming learning. Here at PHS, there will be a variety of activities in the Library Media Center each day to celebrate School Library Month, where students will create and keep projects centered around books and reading.

Here are the activities each day at lunch for this month:

Every Friday there will be music in the LMC during lunch.

April 4-8: Make your “Book” mark

April 11-14: Book cover button-making

April 19-22: Book page origami

April 25-29: LMC mural collaboration creation

You will be entered in a book raffle every time you check out a library book this month.
