National Guitar Month
National Guitar Month is observed for the month of April. The organizations “Guitar &’ Accessories Marketing Association” (GAMA) and “National Association of Music Merchants” (NAMM) founded International Guitar Day in 1987. The guitar got its name in the 14th century in Spain; the name comes from the Spanish word “Guitarra” originally formed from Latin word “cithara” and ancient Sanskirt “tar” which means strings. The early form of the guitar was originated from Egypt passed to the Greeks and Romans before Europe got to it. Throughout that time it would be called “Lute” and didn’t look like the modern day guitar now. It wasn’t until Spain got ahold of the idea and remodeled and renamed it and since then it has stuck around although there’s now different models and brands they have their similarities from where they originated. Many people love to play and learn about the guitar. The guitar is one of the most popular instruments because of its ability to play more than one tone at once, easy transportation and affordable prices.
