Football Comes to an End for the Season
PHS Loses to Highland
Friday, November 5th, the Varsity Football team took on The Highland Scots for our Playoff game. The team was excited for their big game and nervous about what was the outcome might be. The beginning of the game started off a little slow with multiple first downs from both of the teams. During the first quarter, Angel Perez from Highland made the first touchdown of the game along with a successful kick from another teammate. Junior, Jaret Garcia was able to make it across the field until he fell over into the sidelines. Although he was taken down he didn’t let that discourage him in fact during the second play he made a touchdown making the scoreboard close to evening up; unfortunately, we were off by a point due to an unsuccessful kick. Moving onto the third quarter of the game Highland was able to make another touchdown followed by a successful kick. This put Highland in the lead, the score remained the same up until the end of the game. The team gave it their all until there was a couple of seconds left, they ended the game a few seconds before the timer was able to finish. Both teams congratulated each other with hugs and high-fives. Once the game was over Porterville gathered together as a family, for the seniors this was their last time on the field, coaches and team members huddled around giving hugs and taking pictures; things got pretty emotional for some of our senior players. The final score came out to Highland 15 Porterville 6. The season is now over, the team went out and did their best up until the very end. Until next season…
