Meet Mrs. Martins, the teacher who has turned her classroom into one of many delightful places on campus. Known for her sense of humor and her unique teaching style, Mrs. Martins can make a dull class into a fun engaging learning environment for many students. Her lessons often include hands-on activities that make students contribute during class. As a student in her class, her classroom is not like every other typical classroom. I find her classroom very welcoming with her dim, warm lamps and soft music in the background.
Mrs. Martins grew up in a little agriculture community in Tulare. Her dad grew up on dairy where her love for cows came from. Mrs. Martin’s teaching career started her sophomore year. Her friend inspired her by telling her to take agriculture biology instead of regular biology because it was more fun. When she finally joined agriculture biology, her sophomore year, she decided she was going to show an animal and from there she knew she wanted to be a teacher. To accomplish where she is today she did run into some challenges. Moving out for the first time was her first reality of real life and that was a big challenging step for her. Mrs. Martins loves her job because of the interactions she has created with her students, and not only being a teacher or mentor, but somebody that students can come to and have fun with. She looks up to her mother and is her biggest inspiration. Fun fact about Mrs, Martins, like I mentioned earlier she adores cows and also just had her first baby.
Mrs. Helms describes Mrs. Martins fondly: “Mrs. Martins is a pretty cool cat, she inspires students everyday and she makes learning fun for them and she makes the Ag department a more lively place and we are all very happy to have her, she has an enthusiasm that I think we need in the Ag department.”
Make sure to say hello to Mrs. Martins when you see her on campus!
