BIGBANG staged an explosive, long-awaited comeback at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan on November 23 during the 2024 MAMA Awards. The event would be its first group performance in nearly a decade to give fans a treat in the eternally unchanged charisma and music of the group. All this is more or less a big milestone night where the band just could show how they perform for all fans around the world, confirming that already now they are legends of K-pop.
That kicked off with G-Dragon, who immediately took to the stage with his solo song and newly released track ‘POWER.’. His charisma swept right into the audience from the moment he appeared on stage, setting a very monumental reunion in place. Soon, he got joined by Taeyang and Daesung while performing ‘HOME SWEET HOME’, which was just released a day before the show. After kicking out former member Seungri had been formally kicked out of the group, due to a devastating scandal that involved him and many other K-pop idols. Following Seungri’s leave was the group’s rapper T.O.P who also departed the group for his own personal reasons.
BIGBANG is one of those influences in K-pop that’s never really discussed. Having performed truly avant-garde music, novelty in performance, they have inspired scores during their near-twentieth-year-long career. And probably, their most poignant reminder in the modern day as artists themselves and in resonance in culture would have been returning to the stage at 2024 MAMA.
