The Lady Marauders Varsity Volleyball team held a long winning streak over the Panthers. Going into the game, their last loss to the Panthers was in 2014. The game started off intense, as both teams battled neck and neck. Middle hitter, Haiden Arbelo led the Panthers with 8 kills in the first set. Outside hitter, Ryleigh Schoonover contributed 4. The Panthers won the 1st set 25-22. However, Monache did not back down. Winning the 2nd set 25-17.
The Lady Panthers started off set 3, by a good serving run by Libero, Sianna Prum. Their quick lead, and efficient offense allowed them to take set 3, 25-15. Haiden Arbelo also earned her 1,000th kill career in the 3rd set, an impressive milestone in her volleyball career.
Now, the Panthers were one set away from making history. Their first win in 10 years. Again, the Panthers led early in the set. Halfway through, the Panthers were ahead in the 4th set, 17-12. However, The Lady Marauders fought back with some key kills from their outside hitter, closing the gap to 1 point at 17-16. Although the game was tight, the Panthers kept their composure. After 4 kills from the Panthers, and a few Marauder errors, the Panthers led 24-19. One point was made and the Marauder’s streak died. The Panthers won the game 25-19, off of a serving error from Monache. The Sharman gymnasium erupted in excitement! The Varsity Volleyball Team won there first rivalry game since November 6, 2014, and clenched 2nd place in their first round of league!
