January is such a cold, foggy and chilly month. But there’s one thing that can help get through this month, and that one thing is music. Music is something everyone has listened to, music is very therapeutic in so many ways. Why is music so important though? According to Harvard Health, “Music listeners had higher scores for mental well-being and slightly reduced levels of anxiety and depression compared to people overall.” Music is something that strengthens your brain and also keeps your brain networks strong. Those networks are involved in keeping your health, learning ability and cognitive health strong. But what happens while your listening? Since 2006, scientists have been studying this exact question, throughout the years studying, they’ve made some pretty interesting discoveries. Music and the Brain created a list of things that happens when you listen to music.
Music Can…
- Change your ability to become aware of time
- Tap into the primal lobe
- Reduce seizures
- Make you stronger
- Boost your immune system
- Make you smarter!
Here is a list of music from albums that seem therapeutic to me.
